One Star for Installation Directions

I bought these Tachikara net wood anchors to install a net in an indoor area with a wood surface.Following the printed instructions, I drilled a 1/16" hole 1/2" in diameter and then made it deeper with a 7/16" drill. Then I inserted a 3/8" allen wrench into the anchor and "attempted" to screw the anchor into the wood. However, the anchor bound up, and then the top of the anchor broke off.So then I tried 15/32" inch drill bit, and the anchor broke off just as I was turning it at the wood's surface. Then I tried a 1/2" bit and was able to screw the anchor in all the way. However, the top of the anchor cracked, making future removal a problem. The last anchor in the set I was able to screw in a 1/2" hole by turning very carefully with a new 3/8" allen wrench.

So I now had two broken anchors to remove, which I was able to remove one with pliers, and the other by drilling it out, and then prying out the last part.

I had to buy another set of the anchors, and I also ordered a set of SAE Hex bits, from Amazon, to try various sizes in the anchor. When they arrived I tried the SAE Hex bits, and none of them fit well.So I ordered a set of Metric Hex bits and found that the 10MM bit fit the anchor perfectly. So, with the "correct" 10MM hex bit, and a 1/2" hole I was able to carefully install the remaining anchors.I say install "carefully" because the anchor metal is brittle. Note, I trimmed the edge of the holes with a Stanley knife so the top of the anchor could more easily sink down to slightly below the surface.

Now that the anchors are installed, they seem to be working well, and if nothing breaks off, I will be satisfied with the installation.

It seems to me that whoever thought that SAE was close enough to metric for it not to matter were causing problems for their customers. It may be that what they consider wood anchors were being installed in particle board instead of plywood, and so the inaccuracies didn't matter. As a solution they could have had directions for different installations.
